Total War: Pharaoh promises to treat fans to a more grounded historical entry in the series, having quite a bit to look forward to, especially for those eager to delve into a new setting and explore a new campaign map.
Although developer Creative Assembly revisits the late Bronze Age in Total War: Pharaoh, after letting us first experience it in Troy, it opts to close in on a different part of the world this time around, following the struggles of different protagonists.
Total War: Pharaoh Setting and Campaign Map
More specifically, Total War: Pharaoh's setting revolves around the Egyptian New Kingdom period, putting players at the center of the turmoil that marked it.
As Pharaoh Merneptah's life approaches its end, we get to control one of several faction leaders looking to establish themselves as the dominant force in the region.
Total War: Pharaoh's campaign map stretches across three regions – Egypt, Canaan, and Anatolia. These distinct areas host a variety of biomes and terrain that we'll see both when managing our kingdoms and battling enemies.
These regions are inhabited by three different cultures, and we'll be able to lead all of them to victory at launch.
That is what we know so far about Total War: Pharaoh's campaign map and setting. More details will likely be shared in the lead-up to release.
In the meantime, read up on whether or not we can expect crossplay and what is included in each of the game's editions.
